Post Holiday Carbonara

I received more than enough of pasta packs gifts this Christmas and one of my choice menu to cooked after the holidays was this Carbonara. I used angel hair spaghetti because I like the texture of the pasta. Mushrooms and pork ham slices were added on the white creamy sauce then topped with Parmesan cheese. Its always great to celebrate the season with pasta dishes like this one.

Steak and Veggies

This delicious beef steak with side dishes of vegetables filled up our noche buena table at home. I had been thinking on what to prepare but because of limited time to cook, I just decided to order in a specialized restaurant  a steak menu for Christmas eve of December 24. I paired this with red wine. I enjoyed savoring this meal together with my siblings at home. Merry Christmas!

Family Gathering

I was having a great time together with my siblings and relatives who just came for the holidays. As the host, I was the one who mainly did the food preparation. They arrived at almost 7:00pm already from the airport. Dinner meals were served like buttered & garlic shrimps, fish & vegetable  broth and kinilaw (raw tuna in vinegar and spices). They were so thankful for the food servings because they were already hungry from the long flight. This was the happy moment together with my relatives this holiday season.

Red Wine Gift

I got this red wine as a Christmas gift days ago. I am happy to received it because this was sincerely given with thoughts and gratitude. A medium sweet red wine that will be a perfect pair for my Noche Buena and Christmas menus like beef steaks, ham and other red meat dishes. Cheers for the holidays!

Grocery gifts

I got some Christmas grocery gifts yesterday and today from the office and some clients. Two baskets of noche buena treats like pastas, fruit cocktails, cheeses, condensed milks, soft drinks, canned fruits, vodka, biscuits and fresh fruits. I have already some plans of these presents for the Christmas eve and the new year. I hope to post some of my cookings here soon. Thanks for these groceries.

Weekend Pinakbet

I loved cooking vegetables last weekend so I decided to prepared this Pinakbet. Brown the sliced pork belly parts until golden brown then set aside. In the same pan saute onions and garlic. Add pork and squash. Stir then add water and let it boil until the squash and pork are done. Put some flavorings, salt, fish sauce an shrimp paste. Simmer again then add vegetables like okra, patola and eggplant. Mix all the ingredients and serve immediately.  This just tasted so good and healthy.

Supplement

I have written a post before about my newly opened catering restaurant and it is on its fifth month now on operation. It was a birth pain I should say after those grueling weeks of preparations. Now it is doing well this time and the sales are going up. Thanks for all the support of my staff and crew who are very supportive for the food business. One agent made an appointment with me and he talked and discussed about photocopiers which comprised their marketing line of products. He was citing my establishment as he saw the potentials especially with the influx of the customers. It would be a good strategic area for the copiers that he is selling. I am contemplating of availing the offer because it can be of help to build the new business.

Phil.Stew

This is Kare-kare, Philippines stew that is made from peanut sauce and I added some vegetables like eggplants, string beans, banana heart and pechay leaves. Varieties of meat can be use here like beef oxtail, pork pata or goat meat.This is usually served in some Filipino parties, fiestas  and celebrations. A very easy to cook meal that everybody would always love to eat.

Food tripping again

I love cooking stew dishes and last weekend my menu was Oriental Beef Stew. Special beef cuts were boiled until very tender. Saute onions and garlic then add tendered beef cuts. Put the remaining broth and add cups of water. When boiling add salt, oriental seasoning, carrots and potatoes. Boil until  the broth becomes thicker and by this time the carrots and potatoes are also cooked already. Add  ground pepper, mix everything then garnished with chopped leeks. Serve hot with rice. One yummy menu for today's Food Trip Friday. Happy Weekend!

Bam-i Day

Everybody's favorite - Bam-i. I cooked this menu the stir fry way. Two noodles combined with carrots, celery, pork and  shrimps. I think in a month this is always present in my menu list. Aside from its sumptuous taste, it is easy to prepare and the ingredients are minimal. You can eat it with bread or as it is paired with soft drinks or iced tea. Ideal to cook in times when you have many visitors. What a bam-i day!

Wicked Profits

It is exactly hard to start a business especially if you are a beginner. This is what I am feeling at this time. I am trying to work things one at a time. Focus, concentration and  lots of ideas are needed in order to have things in place. I am getting more attention especially on the financing aspects because I wanted to roll out and expand the  income potential of my business. I am planning to join the options trading system where advisory services are being offered to pursue portfolio growth under various market conditions. I will be given options to choose according to trading strategies. I am new about this idea but as I carefully read about the online profile, I find it interesting. Well there is no harm in trying and I am looking forward for more great deals that this would offer. Success can be achieved by those who never stop believing and exploring for possibilities and that is an aim for my business.

Food Trip Friday

My entry for this week is  Shrimps in Tomato and Garlic sauce. A very easy to prepare menu either for lunch or dinner. Saute chopped garlic in olive oil then add fresh medium sized shrimps. Add salt, pepper, seasonings and tomato sauce. Stir well and simmer for 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Serve hot immediately. For this kind of meal I need to have extra rice because everybody at home just love it. Happy weekend to all!

Halaan Soup


This menu is perfect for cold rainy days since it is always raining  for almost a week already. I prepared halaan soup (fresh clams) as the main ingredient. Clean throughly the clams.Set aside. Boil water in a casserole then add onions, tomatoes, lemon grass, ginger and fresh clams. Put salt and seasonings. Adjust according to taste  that it should not be too salty. Any green leafy vegetable can be used here and for this menu I added fresh kangkong (water spinach) as my green toppings. Serve immediately. A deliciously healthy meal.

restaurant business cards

My newly opened business is doing great at this time. It is almost two months now since it last opened. That was a very stressful time because I was starting and there were so many plans, ideas and decisions to consider. I am thankful now that the business is slowly in place. Some of my close friends already dined and tasted the great flavors of my food. I sent to each and everyone of them my personalized business card which also served as an invitation. When my beauty stylist Maricel received the invitation, she was so happy to see the nice and unique card. She asked favor from me on where did I ordered such calling cards. She was interested to have some makeup artist business cards too for her salon. I helped her by showing some online ideas about the cards. There are lots of designs, styles, templates and printing ideas to choose and I hope by now she already availed the great offers of the site.

Adobo for Halloween

Its Halloween time! I cook this ever delicious pork adobo for dinner at home. It is the usual procedure of preparing pork belly, salt, vinegar, pepper, onions and garlic, laurel leaves. But this time I add salted black beans. Just control the salt to taste. This is another delicious try for cooking adobo.

Papaya Slices

For the past months, there was a scarcity of papaya fruit because the production was largely affected by the climate change and the El Nino (prolonged summer season). I am thankful because I was able to buy some ripe papaya in the market fruit stand last Sunday. This variety is called "solo" where the flesh is thicker as compared to other native papaya fruit. It is sweet and a healthy after meal desert. One of my favorite fruit in year round season.

Food Trip Friday Entry

Chicken Tinola

Ingredients:

1/2 kilo native chicken
1 pc onion
garlic cloves
medium size, ginger
1 young papaya, peeled and sliced diagonally
sili leaves
5 cups water
3 tbsp. olive oil
salt & pepper

Cooking procedures:

In a casserole, heat olive oil then saute  ginger, garlic and onions. Add  chicken then simmer for five minutes. Add salt and water. Bring to a boil until chicken is tender. Add papaya and allow to cook. When ready to serve, put sili leaves. Serve hot with white rice.

I just know that there is a celebration for bread in the world and that is today. Bread is a staple food prepared by cooking a dough of flour and water together with other ingredients. It may be leavened or unleavened. I always wake up every morning having coffee and bread. These two are perfect partners that help me perk my day. There are many kinds of bread sold in bakeries, groceries and other specialized bread shops. Just be sure that the breads we are eating are clean, healthy and yummy. Happy World Bread day!

Special Day treat



I just celebrated my birthday last week and it was a special and meaningful day for me. Another gift of life has been given and I am always grateful for all the provisions of my existence. Since it was my day, I made this special creamy spaghetti. I always believed that good taste of food comes from quality of ingredients. I used here the thin kind of spaghetti (Italian kind). The sauce includes ground beef/pork, tomato &cheese sauce, chopped carrots, mushrooms, seasonings and spices.Top with melted cheese, the  enjoyment of  the :"creamylicious" taste were shared by my siblings and friends. Steamed Crabs



Irresistible crabs! I cooked it simply as compared to my previous cookings with this delicious seafood. This time I have it steamed in spices and seasonings. It is much better this way to make it less in calories. The taste is great and all the steaming ingredients blended with the crab meat. Its a mess eating this seafood but the taste is always unforgettable.

Pusit Day


I have not eaten pusit (squid) for quite sometime already. I bought a kilo of this delicious seafood last weekend and cooked it adobo style. The squids were throughly cleaned and sliced in half. In a pan sauté onions and garlic. Add squid, salt and seasonings. Mix together then add a cup of water. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add vinegar and boil for another few minutes until black sauce is reduced.Garnished with chopped leeks. Simply the best menu in cooking the squid. Served with hot rice.

Crispy Pata for FTF

It's food tripping again.A delicious crispy pata dish that I prepared this week. I bought a preboiled pork hind from a specialty meat shop then deep  fried in very hot oil for 20 minutes. Placed in a serving platter together with spicy dipping of soy sauce, vinegar, chili and garlic. Slices of cucumbers are healthy side dish for pork meals. Everybody at home just enjoyed the sumptuous dinner with this yummy crispy pata.

Travel & RV Recreation

I am busy these days as my new food business just started. My time is always occupied with so many transactions like securing permits, supplier inquiries, market appointments, leaf letting, advertising, consumer targets and many more.Aside from all of these things, I am also doing inquiries regarding rvs for sale as I needed it for my business venture. Some of my food prospects are located  out of town and I need to have some covers for my personal utility  car being driven for the business trip. I am happy and excited to secure some covers so that the vehicle would be protected. There are uncertain things that might happen while travelling so it is a must to  be personally secured. Food Trip Friday

Creamy Shrimps & Mushrooms on Linguine

Peeled shrimps with creamy mushroom and onion sauce that can be layered or mixed on linguine pasta. In a large saute pan, heat oil, butter and garlic over medium heat. Add shrimps and mushrooms. Set aside. Cook pasta according to directions on package. Drain.Reheat oil in pan, add onion and saute, stirring often, until onion is soft but still white. Add bullion cube and water; bring to a boil and simmer uncovered for approximately 10 minutes. Stir in cream and milk. Place pasta in a bowl, then mix the creamy sauce. Top with Parmesan cheese .Serve immediately. I am feeling hungry while making this post. :) Anyway, happy food tripping to all!

Bacon Ham

I used this bacon ham as cooking ingredient, breakfast dish and as a sandwich. The quality of this bacon ham is very good made more of lean meat thinly in round slices. When I sliced it in strips and cooked separately in a pan, not much of oil as compared to other bacon products.It pays to buy good quality products.

Breakfast Meals

My relatives had a stop over at home this weekend. They left from mlang early morning for some  tests for the seniors. I prepared for them these breakfast menus; stir fried ampalaya in scrambled eggs, steamed hotdogs and onioned beef strips. Though it was quite time consuming because I had to woke up very early to prepare for the menus. But the cooking passion that I had for them was very fulfilling  after all.

I like white wine. As a rule, use only a wine that you can drink and can also be used for cooking. White wines are perfectly great with seafoods and poultry dishes. It can also be a good flavoring to sauces. I even added this white wine to my pasta meal this weekend. There are many brands available in the market to choose from in varying prices. There is one activity that I really like in the internet now  and that is the TV Online .  This serves as my personal guide to many popular television shows that I would always love to watch. The site is very comprehensive where it serves the audiences according to age, genre, sites, shows, premieres and a lot more of choices. There were times when I cannot watched every episode of my favorite talk show  Oprah because of my busy schedules. Missing two or more shows of Oprah Winfrey felt like I was outdated already. I am very happy of this online advancement because it keeps me on track about the society and the world. I even shared this to Anne, MyMy, Raymund and Lydia for they are also television addicts like me. Food Trip Friday

Wow its Friday again! I am always excited to post my menu for today - Lean Beef in Ampalaya (bitter gourd). Thin beef slices sautéed in garlic and onions then added with seasonings (salt, pepper,soy sauce, sesame oil). This is so easy to cook because the beef is tender and the bitter gourd just needs some quick steaming. I love the taste as the bitterness of ampalaya blended well  with the juicy beef slices. Happy food tripping everyone!

Lunch Buffet again

Another serving during the lunch buffet in the hotel - vegetable chopsuey, grilled  seafood, breaded pork chop, lettuce salad and rice. I was carefully tasting the menus as I found it different in taste and ingredients compared to  common cooking. I think the seasonings, spices and quality ingredients really made the servings  extra special. Great lunch buffet experience for me.

Mango float


Lunch could be so delicious followed by this creamy mango float dessert. I bought this round size in a pastry shop before going home. I sliced it accordingly so that everybody can taste the layers of crackers, cream and ripe mango slices. Yummy!

Stir Fry for FTF

One of the favorite food of my cooking fans at home is this Chicken Sotanghon Guisado. You can use pork, seafood (shrimps/squid) or a combination of both. Onions and garlic are sautéed in hot oil (olive oil)  then add chicken (meat,liver&gizzard). Simmer for 15 minutes then adjust seasonings according to taste. I do not use oyster sauce on most of my cooking for health reasons. Foods are healthier and taste even better by using natural spices and flavorings. Add pea pods, carrot sticks, chopped celery and sotanghon (rice noodles). Stir to mix all the ingredients. Serve hot. It's food craving Friday again. Have a great weekend to all!

I attended a workshop last Saturday in a hotel venue and I was so eager to taste some buffet dishes served for us. This is the lunch serving - seaweed salad, beef in black beans, seafood curry, grilled pork and okoy. Very delicious dishes that filled myself during the duration of the workshop.

Food tripping time

My serving for today is this special chopsuey. Shrimps, chicken&pork liver and squid sautéed in onions and garlic. Stir then add some water and let boil for 5 minutes. Add vegetables- carrots, young corn, cabbage, cauliflower, cabbage, mushroom and boiled quail eggs. Manage the taste by dash of salt and pepper. To make the sauce thicker, dissolved two tablespoons of flour in warm water then pour on while it is simmering. Mix well then add some garnishing of leeks. This is a healthy and yummy meal perfect for servings.

Servings for FTF


Hello to all food trippers! My food servings for today are truly yummy Filipino dishes.
Bamboo Shoots in Shrimps and Vegetables
Edible shoots boiled well then add shrimps, shrimp paste and garlic cloves. Simmer for few minutes then add sliced okra and saluyot. The slimy broth just tastes so good.


Adobo Special
Pork belly slowly cooked in seasonings- vinegar, salt, pepper,onions,garlic and soy sauce. I used cola (not water) for this menu and had it boiled until very tender using charcoal for about an hour and a half. Garnish with laurel leaves. For me these two menus just blend perfectly when served together with rice.
