Weekend Kinilaw

This is kinilaw, a popular dish made of fresh tuna. The fish meat sliced into cubes then added with calamansi juice, vinegar and salt. Chopped or sliced thinly onions, garlic and ginger then add on the tuna mixture. Put some spicy red chili for a kick taste. Garnished with thinly sliced cucumber and radish. Set in for an hour before eating so that all the ingredients blended well. This is a great appetizing dish.

Saturday at home

Great Saturday weekend at home and I have all the time to cook for lunch. I bought some special cuts of beef shanks. Cooked for hours until very tender. Add 5 cups of water to make a broth and let it boil. Add onions and sliced gabi allow to cook until it is very tender. The starchy element of gabi would make a savory taste with the broth. Add salt, pepper and seasonings to taste.  Lastly add the green cabbage leaves and simmer for a minute. Serve while hot. Delicious meal for the weekend.

Belly Steak


One of my favorite fish is bangus (milk fish) and I always buy it deboned already. I bought some special belly cuts of bangus from the supermarket and cooked this belly steak meal. Garlic,onions and tomatoes sautéed then belly added one at a time. Simmer in soy sauce, ground pepper, calamansi juice, water and seasonings. Served perfectly hot for breakfast. Yummy!

Weekend get together

Great weekend at home together with my relatives who arrived from manila. They made a stopped over here in the city before going home to the province. As a host, I was very busy preparing meals and the housekeeping activities. I spent all my time the whole day of Saturday so that everything would be ready before their arrival. Early of Saturday afternoon I cooked spaghetti bolognese . Creamy yummy  pasta menu as everybody's favorite food. For dinner I again cooked fish broth in green leafy vegetables, spicy spare ribs and fruits. The food servings and preparation had to be carefully prepared because my senior aunt & uncle's food were carefully chosen because of their health. We enjoyed the meals as well as the never ending chats and updates about each other's lives. I was quite tired then but the get together was worth it.

Groceries for home

I had more time after office yesterday so dropped by at the nearby mall and did the grocery shopping. I had many on the lists and that includes spaghetti ingredients,toiletries, bread, honey, cheese,soda & juice drinks, ground beef, coffee, eggs, processed hotdogs,and vegetables. This is in preparation for a short family get together this weekend. I bought these goods earlier so that it will not be hassle for me to prepare food this weekend at home.

Vegetable Diet

For the past two days, I tried meatless and cooked vegetables menu at home. Some dishes that I prepared were radish salad. Fresh radish peeled and sliced thinly then added with little salt, onions, leeks and tomatoes. Another  dish that I prepared was sauted kangkong leaves in onions,tomatoes, garlic and shrimp paste. The dishes that I prepared tasted so good. It feels light after eating and very healthy indeed. I love vegetables and I have to cook it as often at home.
