Adobo for Halloween

Its Halloween time! I cook this ever delicious pork adobo for dinner at home. It is the usual procedure of preparing pork belly, salt, vinegar, pepper, onions and garlic, laurel leaves. But this time I add salted black beans. Just control the salt to taste. This is another delicious try for cooking adobo.

Papaya Slices

For the past months, there was a scarcity of papaya fruit because the production was largely affected by the climate change and the El Nino (prolonged summer season). I am thankful because I was able to buy some ripe papaya in the market fruit stand last Sunday. This variety is called "solo" where the flesh is thicker as compared to other native papaya fruit. It is sweet and a healthy after meal desert. One of my favorite fruit in year round season.

Food Trip Friday Entry

Chicken Tinola


1/2 kilo native chicken
1 pc onion
garlic cloves
medium size, ginger
1 young papaya, peeled and sliced diagonally
sili leaves
5 cups water
3 tbsp. olive oil
salt & pepper

Cooking procedures:

In a casserole, heat olive oil then saute  ginger, garlic and onions. Add  chicken then simmer for five minutes. Add salt and water. Bring to a boil until chicken is tender. Add papaya and allow to cook. When ready to serve, put sili leaves. Serve hot with white rice.

World Bread Day

I just know that there is a celebration for bread in the world and that is today. Bread is a staple food prepared by cooking a dough of flour and water together with other ingredients. It may be leavened or unleavened. I always wake up every morning having coffee and bread. These two are perfect partners that help me perk my day. There are many kinds of bread sold in bakeries, groceries and other specialized bread shops. Just be sure that the breads we are eating are clean, healthy and yummy. Happy World Bread day!

Special Day treat

I just celebrated my birthday last week and it was a special and meaningful day for me. Another gift of life has been given and I am always grateful for all the provisions of my existence. Since it was my day, I made this special creamy spaghetti. I always believed that good taste of food comes from quality of ingredients. I used here the thin kind of spaghetti (Italian kind). The sauce includes ground beef/pork, tomato &cheese sauce, chopped carrots, mushrooms, seasonings and spices.Top with melted cheese, the  enjoyment of  the :"creamylicious" taste were shared by my siblings and friends. I am happy to share my cooking in todays FTF. Happy weekend everyone!

Steamed Crabs

Irresistible crabs! I cooked it simply as compared to my previous cookings with this delicious seafood. This time I have it steamed in spices and seasonings. It is much better this way to make it less in calories. The taste is great and all the steaming ingredients blended with the crab meat. Its a mess eating this seafood but the taste is always unforgettable.

Pusit Day

I have not eaten pusit (squid) for quite sometime already. I bought a kilo of this delicious seafood last weekend and cooked it adobo style. The squids were throughly cleaned and sliced in half. In a pan sauté onions and garlic. Add squid, salt and seasonings. Mix together then add a cup of water. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add vinegar and boil for another few minutes until black sauce is reduced.Garnished with chopped leeks. Simply the best menu in cooking the squid. Served with hot rice.
