Bottle of grape juice

I was not able to buy one bottle of grape juice in the mall that I often do the grocery shopping. Good thing there was a stock available in the other grocery store. I need to buy one because I will be making /cooking a calabash juice from its fruit and to make it more nutritious, I am adding a bottle of grape juice on it.  Grape juice is said to be rich in anti-oxidants and great for overall health and wellness. Its sweet taste is always appealing in any serving.

Cake slice

I was tempted the other day to taste this delicious slice of marble cake that I bought in a pastry bakeshop in the mall. It tastes deliciously soft and creamy. Mouth watering cake temptation that I could not resist. I seldom eat cakes and only on occasions but this one really satisfied my cravings last Thursday. I hope to buy one again when I have time to go to their shop in the mall.

Lunch for today

Weekend at home is special for me because it is the time wherein I can make home cook meals. I do the marketing early morning in the wet market. I am able to buy fresh fruits, vegetables and fish. I cook for lunch a broth meal - snapper fish, green leafy vegetables, slice young eggplant, tomatoes,onions and lemon grass. a simple dish that is full of essential nutrients. Great to cook as a comfort food especially on this rainy day.

Banana loaf for home

I like baked banana loaf from a  bakery shop and before going home I bought a piece of it. It is made of mashed fully ripe bananas It is often moist and sweet. The loaf can be sliced into thin pieces and can be eaten as snacks with juices, iced tea or a morning coffee. There are many kinds of baked banana loaf/cake available in the market and some bakers try to modify to capture the taste of the consumers. For me, banana cake is always one of my favorite pastries.

Kung Pao rice dinner

I always buy some groceries for home every Friday as part of my end of weekdays routine. After doing the groceries, I feel hungry and I thought of tasting this delicious Kung pao rice meal at a fast food in the mall. Chicken fillets topped with spicy sauce, chopped leeks and young corn. The steamed rice and the toppings filled my palate. A great must try for dinner. Yummy!

Canola oil purchase

I am health conscious this time and I want that the oil that I am using has good health benefits. Aside from olive oil, I find canola oil as a good oil because it contains the lowest levels of saturated fats. It is made of premium quality that is good for frying, sauteing or deep frying meats, sea foods, vegetables, poultry or pasta dishes. Frying using this oil is fun without the guilt of the side effects of using oil on dishes.

Sweet cupcakes

I bought a pack of purple yam cupcakes the other day. This sweet temptation is one of my favorite indulgence as snack or as a dessert. I used to buy assorted kinds like cheese, chocolate and mocha flavors but the grocery ran out of stocks of it.  The purple yam flavor is my choice so I bought a pack which has ten cupcakes in it. Great as snacks in the morning or afternoon with some flavored drinks or juices.

Cousin's birthday cake

One sweet celebration as my cousin celebrated her birthday last twentieth of this month. This is the center piece of the table, a delicious mouth watering birthday cake. Crispy Salvaro

My sister gave this pack of salvaro as a present when she had a visit in Cebu City. Salvaro is made of thin crispy biscuits in oval shapes. It is slightly sweet with some creamy tastes of milk and sugar. I cant stop eating one after until I consumed all inside the pack. Good taste of some local delicacy that is worth a present any time.

Corned tuna pasta

I got this recipe from a cooking television show and as I follow the cooking procedure, I thought of making one at home.

Big can of corned tuna
Angel hair spaghetti
Evaporated milk
All purpose cream 
Basil leaves
Cooking oil
Grated cheese


Cook pasta according to packing directions. Saute onions and garlic in hot oil. Add corned tuna, stir for a few minutes then add water. Boil then add salt and pepper, all purpose cream and evaporated milk. Stir until the mixture reaches its consistency. Add grated cheese, mix all together then pour the mixture in the pasta. Mix then place in a big serving dish. Garnish with chopped basil leaves.

Peanut flavored masareal

This is a a popular pasalubong or present when visiting the city of Cebu. I love the taste of this masareal- peanut and sugar combined into bar shapes like the ones in the picture. My sister brought ten bars for us and I immediately consumed one bar immediately. Peanuts combined with some sweets have that special blend that my palate cannot resist. Delicious sweets that I will always buy again and again.

Green peas

I have a pea plant that starts to bear pods in the backyard. These are some of the green peas that I picked and can used as an ingredient in cooking stir fried noodles. Just sliced thinly and take off the hard green edgings. Can also be combined with stir fried dishes like meat, poultry or seafood.

Crispy,tangy BBQ ribs chips

I like munching  chips when watching television or when just doing nothing at home. This pack of crispy, tangy barbecue ribs chips filled my day with so much goodness of this unique chips that was given as a present by my friend from Australia. It is not salty as compared to some local chips. The chips are great in every bite and makes me wanting for more until its done.

Japanese chocolate

My sister was given a pack of mini chocolate bars by her friend who arrived from Japan. It is my first time to taste Japanese chocolate and I find it deliciously sweet. The mini chocolate bars are pack individually with some added crispies inside. The kind of chocolate is different from those chocolates of other countries like Australia, US or Belgium. Thanks for this chocolate present. I enjoyed eating ten packs.

Butter fried malasugue in garlic toppings

This is a simple dish to prepare but the result is indeed delicious. Malasugue is a kind of tuna fish. I bought the sliced pieces then marinated in salt, pepper and lemon juice. Fried in butter and oil until golden brown. Set aside. In the same pan, saute until brown some garlic chops then topped in the fried fish slices. Delicious really because the fish absorbed the marinade and the buttery taste combined with garlic toppings make it more yummy.

Fresh tropical fruits

I am thankful for the abundance of fresh tropical fruits here in the city. Almost a year round, bananas, papaya and avocado are always available in the market. Eating fresh fruits is always a healthy choice for me. Aside from the good benefits on my well being, fruits are believed to be the great sources of essential nutrients that everyone should have in their daily food intake. These fruits are very affordable. Great to make as fruit shakes, fruit salads or can be taken as it is.

Macaroni salad

No doubt this macaroni salad is everyone's favorite at home. I cook the salad pasta according to packaging directions. drain then set aside. When cool, I add mayonnaise, condensed milk  and salad dressing. Put the kaong, fruit cocktail and raisins. Top with some grated cheese. Chill for five hours or preferably  overnight. The combination of all the ingredients makes this serving taste just great. Best to prepare on any occasions at home.

It made me curious one day when I did some groceries and I saw this pack of waffle pretzels. It tastes unique for me because its crunchy, light salted and a designed bite sizes of it. Taking one pretzel keeps me wanting for more until I can consume a handful. Best paired with any kind of soup. An imported product that is worth a try.

Breakfast meal

I thought of cooking this breakfast meal at home last week-- fried slices of meat loaf and scrambled eggs. The meat loaf is taken out of its can then slice.Fried in hot oil until golden brown. It does not need to be deeply fried because the meat loaf is already pre cooked. For the scrambled eggs, I sliced green onion leaves then added to scrambled eggs, fried in a medium fire for a few minutes then serve in a serving plate and ready for a breakfast. best serve with rice and a cup of hot coffee. Yummy breakfast!

Raisin cookies

There are lots of cookies available in the market but my favorite is always raisins cookies. I like the sweet taste of the cookie with the soft raisins on top of it. The crunchiness and sweetness of this comfort pieces of bread ease the boredom that I have especially when I am doing nothing. I can even eat everything in one seating a pack of this cookies. I think I have to buy one this weekend.

Hot noodle servings

I considered noodles as a comfort food especially during rainy days. The hot spicy servings of this bowl of noodles just filled my day. It is a Korean brand of noodles that I bought from the imported section of the mall. It relieved me from my stress when I got home from a hard days work. Like the taste compared to the local brands. The noodles are firm and tasted real. Many more delicious flavors to taste next time.

A delicious seafood pizza in vegetable toppings that I taken out from a pizza store in the mall. Just being curious about the toppings and it is really delicious. The seafood flavor best combines with the tomatoes, greens and the mayonnaise. This is a good for two servings and i feel full already after consuming some slices.

Pasta treat

Cooking a pasta dish at home is simply irresistible by everybody. There was no occasion when I cooked this pork shrimp pasta in creamy sauce. Cravings were just present so this dish filled everyone's palate. I chose an imported pasta spaghetti cooked al dente. I believe that the secrets to a delicious pasta dish are quality of ingredients. Ground pork and large shrimps saute in onions and garlic. Cream sauce added the mixture the simmer with salt and seasonings. Poured on cooked pasta then mixed all together. Garnished with some basil leaves for presentation. Yummy pasta treat everyone!

Orange scent dish washing liquid

After cooking and eating here comes loads of dishes to wash in the kitchen sink. I always make sure that I have this orange scent dish washing liquid. It is made of pure concentrate specifically made for dish washing purposes. A few drops in the sponge can wash many used utensils like plates, ladles, spoons, fork and even pots and frying pans.This bottle concentrate would lasts for more than a month when regularly used at home.

Pork adobo in rosemary

I always do adventures when cooking at home. When I had time last weekend I cooked this pork adobo in dash of rosemary. The usual style of cooking adobo - pork belly cuts, soy sauce, onions, garlic, cane vinegar, salt and pepper cooked together. A few minutes before the meat and seasonings blended together, I added some dried rosemary leaves. Simmer for a while mixing all the ingredients. I love the taste! It is still an abodo flavor with an aromatic flavor of rosemary.

Chill with red wine

My favorite drink after eating with red meat dishes is a red wine. It is of red color because it is derived from skins of dark colored grapes. There are lots of red wine brands available in the market- sweet or semi sweet . Before serving, I see to it that the wine is chilled and poured in a wine glass to distinctively taste the real red wine flavor. Great to chill drink at any occasion.

The ingredients were salad macaroni cooked al dente, fruit cocktail, mayonnaise, raisins and a little of condensed milk, Blended together, it created this delicious salad macaroni. Best for desserts or for snacks any time of the day.

These groceries were for a my pasta and salad cooking. I always see to it that the ingredients are complete by writing down the checklists of things to buy.  What I just need is an amount of cash every time I do the grocery shop.

Rice cooker for solos

I am happy to received this little rice cooker as a gift. Very good timing because it can be very useful when going solo or alone and I only need a few little cups of rice to cook. This  cooker has a capacity of four cups maximum of rice and it can easily cook in fifteen minutes. Very handy and I can bring it anytime or when I am in an out of town trips. A kitchen appliance that is very useful at home or at any trips to have.

Mini strainer

When I do the cooking or some food preparation at home, I often need this little strainer. Made of stain less material, it is very useful when extracting juices of lemon, calamansi, and other fruits or liquids that  need to be strained to be able to obtain only the needed liquid. I like its smallness because it can fit to a small container like a glass. A kitchen utensil that is very useful in my day to day living.

White bowl

The kitchen ware section of the mall was on sale last weekend and I was able to avail of the price off promo. This white bowl is very useful because it is microwaveable and has secure cover on any kinds of food that I would keep on the refrigerator. The bowl can also be use as a serving food container when having lunch or dinner. Easy to wash and dishwasher safe.  I will avail again if ever there will be another kitchen ware sale.

Kalderetang kambing

One of my favorite dish is stew for meats like goat, beef or pork. I cooked this goat meat one Sunday at home. The meat slices are carefully selected when I bought in the meat section of the supermarket boiled until very tender. I added potatoes, carrots, tomato sauce, bell pepper, salt, pepper and seasonings. Blended together, it created one delicious dish that you always asked for some more rice to fill the plate. Yummy indeed!

Flavorful sesame oil

I like adding this sesame oil especially on my stir fried dishes and meat marinades. This kind of oil is considered as the queen of oils because of it beneficial effects on ones health.  I add a few drops on every dish that I cook and the taste is much different from a dish that has no sesame oil. This bottle can stay on my pantry for up to few months of use. One good oil to use and be part of our cooking.

The sausages were prepared in easy way by frying in a little oil until golden brown. It tastes delicious with some little spice in every bite. One good breakfast meal to prepare at home.

Stir fried noodles day

I feel restless from the kitchen work for the past days and since everyone at home loves eating noodles, I decided to cook this stir fried rice noodles. The ingredients are simple and this kind of menu is very easy to cook in less than thirty minutes. The main ingredients that I added were shrimps and chicken liver peeled and sliced into tiny pieces. Tastes really good and satisfying after a hard days work.

Hot choco drink and bread stick

One of my favorite morning drink when I have my time at home is this hot chocolate drink with a bread puff stick. The chocolate drink is made of grounded real chocolate made from cacao seeds. We call it "tablia" in our local dialect. Boiled and stirred until completely dissolved the added with a condensed milk to make a creamy chocolate drink. The puff bread stick very much compliment with the hot choco. You can have white bread, sticky rice pudding, cookies or any kind of bread that you wanted to eat together with this hot cup of chocolate. Yummy and creamy! It completes my morning.

Basket of groceries

A basket of groceries that was given to me as a gift during the holidays. Most of the contents of the basket were ingredients for pasta spaghetti. I was thankful because I already have the main ingredients for my favorite pasta menu.I can make a spaghetti bolognese from these ingredients and would just buy some additional meats, spices and cheese to make a good food for home.

A box of buns that was given as an arrival present from a generous friend. This is a specialty of a city in another region which attracts my taste buds. Banana loaf

One of my favorite fruit is banana. A year round fruit that is always available in the market. Whenever I visit a bakery that specializes in making banana cakes, I always buy one banana loaf for home. The loaf is made of fresh banana fruit and bake in real goodness of creamy and fluffy loaf. One slice is a great pair for a cup of coffee or a glass of fruit juice or iced tea.

Native garlic

One of my favorite spice when cooking is garlic and I always prefer the native kind. Quite pricey as compared to the imported kind but the results when added to dishes is very flavorful. The aroma is stronger and the food that I cook smell and tastes just good actually.  Great to use on stir fry, baked, stew or broth dishes.  This bunch of garlic would be use for weeks of my daily cooking.
