Bread is one favorite food by everyone. At home I always see to it that I have a loaf or some pieces to eat when someone's hungry or wants to have some snacks. As always food exploration is my passion in the mall. I found these pieces of quality and delicious breads that were worth a purchase. Quite pricey from the usual bread that i bought but the taste was so satisfying for me. These consist of croissant, herb sprinkled with some egg and a pork stuffed with special fillings. I cannot recall the names of these breads but really they are delicious and worth a taste.

Mini Hungarian sausages

I love preparing breakfast meals at home. One morning, my relatives visited and one of the menu that I served for them was this mini Hungarian sausages. I bought it in a specialized deli shop that sold imported sausages. It was so delicious. The blend of spices in the sausages were just right in every bite. Everyone enjoyed eating my breakfast serving for them. I hope to cook some more gourmet dishes like this again.

Sweet Honey

I always buy a bottle of honey for home. This is an all natural product that has many good health benefits. It can also be used as ingredients for baking and cooking too. I often make it as a substitute of sugar as a sweetener in my morning coffee, tea or chocolate drinks. Just be sure to look for the real one because there are lots of imitation sold in the market which claims as real honey. I just love the taste of the sweet honey and that keeps me to have another bottle of it this time.

Wooden Dining Set

This is the dining set of table and chairs at home made from a hardwood named molave. It has been serving the family dining for more that eleven years now. I think we were fortunate to bought a wooden set of this years back because now seldom you can see a molave hardwood furniture. The kind of wood is slowly diminishing actually. We had it made to order and it took more than a month to be delivered at home. The durability and quality of the wood are very good as it can resists to the wear and tear of using. I hope this dining set would serve and last for many more years at home.

Three Yummy Doughnuts

I am always interested to try tasting some new food especially on the mall. When a doughnut house opened in the mall months ago I see to it that I tried tasting their product. These three yummy doughnuts were so tempting. Creamy and sweet in every bite. The variety of flavors gives me that cravings to try everything. There are still many flavors that i have not tasted yet. When I have time again soon, these doughnuts are always worth a taste.

Ground black pepper

My stock of ground black pepper was already used from so many cooking so I listed on my reminder list when I went to the mall for a grocery a bottle of the spice to that I can have something to use again. This is one flavorings that is always present in my pantry. It has many uses especially on stews, stir fried, broth, deep fried kinds of cooking. The price already increased into a minimal amount as compared from my last purchased. Made of real black pepper grounded well to add as a strong flavoring to dishes. My cooking session at home will again be delicious using this ground black pepper.

Coffee caramel cookie chips

I love munching with cookies for desserts or at any time of the day when my taste bud is craving for some. I bought this rack of cookies when I did a grocery on the supermarket of the mall. An exquisite flavor of coffee and blended with the exquisite flavor of caramel chips. Each cookie is so crispy in every bite. Everyone at home just like the taste of the cookies and that they kept on getting it inside the refrigerator. If ever have time this weekend, I will try again some more flavors to experience many kinds cookies in the market.

Mango fruit from a backyard

My sister accompanied my cousin when they visited a relative in the nearby area. They were given with this big mango fruit freshly picked from the backyard. It is organically grown and I think this is apple mango variety. It can be peeled then the yellow thick flesh can be sliced to eat. Unlike those common mango where you can just sliced in halves, this one needs some thorough peeling and slicing. It is very sweet and we enjoyed eating it at home.

White bowl on sale

I had a chance to visit the mall the other day. They were on sale on the kitchen wares department so I immediately checked out what I can bought for home. This white, breakable bowl interested me because it is a multi purpose bowl with a cover. It can also be used in microwave for heating of foods. This white bowl was on sale at fifty percent discount mark down from original price. It is always fun to check out the malls especially when they are on sale because some of the interesting items you have might be on sale.

Breakfast Nuggets

Crisp golden pork nuggets served for breakfast at home. I cooked this early morning to make a good start of my day. Having breakfast is always a healthy choice for me to keep my body energized for the whole day of work. I first thawed the frozen nuggets then in a pan heat the oil. Fry the nuggets side by side until golden brown for about two to three minutes. Serve hot and use tomato ketchup as a dipping/sauce.

Spicy Menu for FTF

My entry for this Fridays' food tripping is Spicy Chevon in Turmeric Sauce. Chopped chevon (goat meat) were boiled until very tender then sauteed in onions, garlic and finely chopped tomatoes. Then add turmeric, a yellow powder used in cooking for color and adding flavor to food. It is also considered as a spice. Put chopped chili pepper and laurel then simmer until sauce thickens then serve immediately. The meat blended well with the ingredients especially with the turmeric spice. I just love the taste! More rice servings needed for this menu :-) Happy weekend everyone!

Quick cooking menu

I got some chicken liver from the fridge and had it cooked quickly because my brother had to report for work and he needed some pack for his lunch. Sautee the liver in onions and garlic. Simmer for a few minutes until the juices come out and mix until golden brown. Add water let it boil for 10 minutes. Add salt, pepper and seasonings. Put some dissolved flour in water to thicken the sauce. When it reaches into good consistency , add the bell pepper as garnishing then serve hot. Fast serving with a good taste.

Fresh Kamias

My office mate gave me these fresh fruits of Kamias (cucumber tree) and I was thankful because these are good flavorings for my cooking activities at home. Fresh green that were just picked from the tree. I immediately washed and cleaned them when I got home. One way to preserved is to put the Kamias in a container with salt. It can stay longer and one of its culinary use is for sinigang or as a sour base for fish paksiw. One time this week , I will add this Kamias fruit in my cooking menu.

Asian Pork Pot Roast

This is another new recipe that I tried to cooked last weekend at home. Pork chops mixed with water, chopped ginger, marmalade, ketchup, soy sauce, seasonings, salt and pepper. Then charcoal boiled very slowly for an hour and a half until the pork becomes very tender. Garnished with chopped leeks then served immediately with rice. Steamy Labong in Saluyot

I am salivating while typing this post (honestly!). This is one of the old time favorite dish at home. Labong (bamboo shoots) and saluyot (slimy kind of green leafy vegetable) with takway ( gabi veins), okra, shrimp paste and fresh shrimps. I would consider this meal as healthy because it is vegetable based with no frying of oil. For the folks at home this menu is irreplaceable by other meat dishes. Serve steamy hot and enjoy eating either for lunch or dinner.

My first time to taste this Belgian Chocolate Crispies that my sister got from a seminar that she attended weeks ago. The chocolate was actually a token for those attendees who participated in the upcoming opening of the chocolate store here in the city. Pure chocolate taste of thin chips with some crispies sprinkled in it. Unique and delicious taste that is worth sharing in here.

Food Tripping with Callos

My plan of cooking Callos ( Tripe and Sausage) menu was finally realized last weekend. This is my own version of cooking this savory stew that I wanted to share for FTF.

Ingredients:

Half kilo beef tripe, cooked until tender

Sausages, sliced

Carrots, cubed

Potatoes, cubed

Tomato sauce

Tomato paste

onions

garlic

green peas

fish sauce

salt

ground pepper

cooking oil (olive/canola)

Fresh green peas

Broth (from boiled tripe)

Cooking procedure:

In a large casserole. saute onions and garlic in cooking oil in. Add sliced beef tripe, sausages, tomato sauce, tomato paste. Pour the broth then simmer for ten minutes. Add seasonings and salt to taste. Add cubed potatoes, carrots and green peas. Simmer again until the vegetables are through. Serve immediately. Happy food tripping to everyone! I would include this kind of menu as my comfort food because it truly gives me a nice, relaxing feeling after savoring the hot broth, chewy beef ribs and the nutritious vegetables of the meal. Most days for the past weeks were rainy and my moods were sometimes unpredictable due to stress from work and many thoughts about daily living. Anyway I was just thankful that this delicious meal filled up my hunger and everybody's palate at home.

Beef and Green Peas in Oyster Sauce

One delicious menu that I prepared for dinner yesterday. I was reading some recipe books in a bookstore and this recipe interested me to cooked as soon as I arrived home. Lean beef were sliced thinly then sauted in garlic and onions. Add seasonings, salt, pepper and oyster sauce. Simmer until sauce thickens, Put green peas, mix all together then served immediately. I had it as rice topping and it tasted so good. A yummy Friday tripping to everyone and happy weekend!

I love chocolate wafers and this pack just tempted me one day while having some groceries in the mall. We enjoyed every bite size of creamy chocolatey taste of wafers. The sweetness is mild as compared to other kinds of wafers. Good partner for coffee or tea at anytime of the day. Can also be great for snacks as well. I like to try some flavors for this kind of wafer when I have time to visit the mall again.

Orange Marmalade

I immediately bought this jar of orange marmalade the other day when I went to the grocery store. I used to think about buying one because I have a recipe pending to try until I can complete all the needed ingredients. Marmalade is a fruit preserve made from the juice and peel of fruits boiled with sugar and water. The peel has a distinctive bitter taste which is imparts to the marmalade. I am already excited to cook my recipe and hopefully be realize any time these days.

Comfort Soup for Rainy day

Rainy days are here again! There was a heavy downpour when I went home early last night so I decided to cook this comfort food - Sotanghon Soup (vermicelli noodles/mung bean) for dinner. Thinly sliced chicken (breast part) and peeled shrimps were sauteed with garlic and onions then simmered for few minutes. Vegetables that I added were carrot sticks,shredded cabbage, sliced mushrooms and finely chopped leeks. Lastly add the noodles simmered and mixed all together until done. Placed in a soup dish and served while hot. A yummy comfort soup that really helped relieved my stress of the rainy day. Hope to see a sunny weekend again. Happy Food Tripping everyone!

This is one of my favorite spice or seasonings on my cooking. I was lucky to bought a bunch in a newly opened grocery shop. This is the native kind of garlic. Garlic is widely used around the world for its pungent flavor as a seasoning or condiment.The garlic plant's bulb is the most commonly used part of the plant. With the exception of the single clove types, garlic bulbs are normally divided into numerous fleshy sections called cloves. Garlic cloves are used for consumption (raw or cooked) or for medicinal purposes. They have a characteristic pungent, spicy flavor that mellows and sweetens considerably with cooking. I used one bulb yesterday when I cooked some seafood vegetables for lunch. Great tasting with this kind of garlic.

Grilled Serving

I was craving for some grilled food last Sunday and it was a timing because when I went to the wet market place, I bought a fresh Kitang fish that would be great for dinner. The fish was thoroughly cleaned then marinated in lemon juice, salt, pepper and soy sauce. Put some lemon grass and onions inside the hallow part where the intestines were removed. Wrapped with aluminum foil then grilled over hot flaming charcoal for 20 minutes turning every side for even cooking. Serve hot. This is very simple yet finger licking good meal.

My Dessert for FTF

June month is here again. Time just flies fast and we are now on the sixth month of the year. I would like to serve a dessert as my first entry this month -- Creamy Mango Float. Graham crackers are used as based then layered with heavy sweetened cream, sliced ripe mangoes and ending with cream mixture on top sprinkled with some crushed graham. This chilled serving tastes creamy sweet and tempting in every slice. Hope our lives in the coming days ahead be sweet too just like this fruit dessert. Bite sizes of chocolates

Chocolates are one of my favorite sweets and so when my cousin gave this pack of bite sizes I was glad enough to received it. Flavors include chocolates in nuts, choco almonds, wafer cream chocolates and plain milk chocolates. I am not the only one who has chocolates indulgence but also my siblings. There are only few left in the pack inside the refrigerator when I check this morning. Anyway thanks for the chocolate presents.

My entry for today's food tripping is Spicy Beef Spare Ribs. This a simple dish of beef ribs (special cuts) boiled until very tender then added with sesame oil, black pepper, soy sauce and spice powder. Slowly cook in medium fire until sauce thickens.Garnished with some chopped leeks then serve hot with rice. Pork ribs can also be an alternate from beef ribs. I was thankful to received a basket of mangoes from a client the other day. She is almost a daily person in the office that processes many important documents. I am the one who often attends to her daily transactions and I think this was part of her being grateful for the service. It was a surprise actually and I brought the four kilos mango fruits at home. There was a recent news about the recalled of a brand of noodles in the market. The company informed the public about the traces of salmonella which is harmful when eaten. This is also a precautionary measure of the company so that there will be no harms for the consumers who are buying their noodle products. I am not a frequent eater of instant noodles as I find it unhealthy. Good thing there was news like this and the public like me was informed about this food dangers.

I am tired from the day's work this Friday and I think I deserve a cool treat for myself. A regular size of chocolate milk shake quenches my thirst this afternoon that I buy from a food stall inside the mall.. It has some pearls that are nice to chew while sipping the creamy chocolate blended together with crushed ice. Now I feel calm and concentrated. I was having my time on one of the weekdays last week. I had some important things to attend to and I was thankful that it was accomplished immediately. One of the favorite cake at home is this banana cake. I bought it from a specialty bakery that sells this delicious kind. It is a type of bread that is made with mashed bananas. I have no name for this menu that I cooked last weekend. This was made out personal kitchen adventure and I thought of serving it for lunch. I saute the garlic and onions in a hot oil then add thin slices of lean pork. Put shrimps (peeled), mix together. Simmer for a few minutes. Add fresh mushrooms . Salt, seasonings and pepper to taste. Cook until done. Put steamed broccoli then served hot. It tasted deliciously good for everyone's palate. I am hoping to have time this weekend for more cookings at home. I have all my time today. Some unfinished transactions are part of my itinerary this Saturday. I was not able to finished it because my weekdays were hectic at the office. Good thing I finish it early this afternoon. I am hungry from so many walkings so I drop by and take some snacks at KFC. I wait for a long line of people to be serve. My brother just celebrated his birthday last March 30. He requested me to cooked his favorite pasta - creamy spaghetti. The sauce includes lean ground beef, mushrooms and chopped carrots mixed together with quality spaghetti pasta then topped with cream cheese. My office mate just arrived from her one week out of town vacation. She gave as a present a sweet masareal. A candy bar made of sweetened peanuts flavored with milk and other sweet ingredients. It is wrapped in white paper and very convenient to eat as a dessert after meal. This also one of my favorite and I enjoyed every bite of the bar. How thoughtful of her to give me the masareal. I was having a hard time during the renovation of my home particularly the kitchen. I had to rearrange and set aside the clutters so that the carpenters and masons could have enough spaces to did their work. Good thing there is a Storage Slough that helped me a lot on my personal belongings. They offered me a safe, secured and clean rooms for my things while I was busy in the renovation. What I admired was their quality and good service for me. I am very appreciative of their efforts. The next time I will need storage units they would always be my choice.

I spent my Saturday afternoon with Lyn and she treated me for a dinner in a specialty restaurant. We ordered just one menu-- special stir fried seafood and meat rice noodles. The serving was so bountiful that we got bloated to consumed it. The noodles were so tasty with pork, shrimps, vegetables (cabbage, carrots, leaks & celery). Chatting over a delicious meal was just as good as ever. This was her way of sharing her blessings on her new job. Thank you for the treat.

Life is hard nowadays and I have to budget my needs and also my meals. I meet with my friend and we decide to have lunch together. I am very busy at present on the kitchen renovation at home. One of my main concern is the dining area. I am planning to make it very modern and elegant because its been always my dream to have a high tech and state of the art personal kitchen. One of the utensils to add in my kitchen is this teflon coated fry pan from Sunnex. I got this as a door prize during our office Christmas party. A very convenient, easy to cook utensil where I can use for fast frying meals like eggs, hotdogs, fish and seafoods. However it is advisable to use the non-stick pan quickly and that it should be not stayed too long on fire.

When I started the preparation of my restaurant business I can say that it was very hard especially in transporting the furnitures, fixtures, equipments and other necessary items. Its nice to be back again on today's Food Trip Friday. I was so busy for the past weeks and just had time to cook last weekend this Beef Salpicao. I found the recipe from a magazine and so my passion urged me to cooked this dish at home. Choice cuts of lean beef (cubed) were marinated in soy sauce, garlic and seasonings for two hours. Fry the beef cuts one at a time. Set aside. In the same pan, sauté garlic and chopped green chili then add the beef cuts. Simmer in low fire for few minutes. Serve hot. An appetizing meal for lunch or dinner. Happy weekend to all!

I am having an out of town vacation in my cousins' home and my stay with her family is so great. Its been quite sometime since I met her family. I think 5 years already .The kids are now grown ups and busy excelling in their individual crafts. Yesterday I accompanied the second child named Bea on her guitar lessons. She was taught the basic skills and techniques about the guitar. I was thinking it hard especially for the beginners because you need to understand the basics about the lessons. I got this ceramic dining wares as a present last holiday season. I was so happy to received it as utensils for home. The gift consists of 2 pieces (by set) of cups, platters, plates and deep serving plates. Made of white ceramic with little red designs on the edge.This is great for servings on special occasions to guests and also to the members of the family. Careful handling especially when washing should be observe on these kinds of utensils to prevent from breakage and scratch.

I am having plans of renovating the kitchen this coming summer. This is quite tough because I have to personally check out every detail of the kitchen area starting from the color/motif, design, arrangement and many other necessities with regards to renovation. I would like to make it simple yet comfortable and stylish to match my unique and modern personality. This time I would like to use blinds instead of the old fashioned curtains. Crab Cravings

I had great Sunday at home as I satisfied my cravings for one of my favorite seafood -- crabs. The price is not so expensive so I bought two pieces of regular size crabs. I simply cooked it the steamed way with onions, ginger, lemon grass, salt, pepper, fish sauce and seasonings. It tasted so heavenly as the crabs were truly fat and meaty. Me and my brother enjoyed savoring the very complicated parts of the crab as much as we can. Satisfying indeed especially on a very relaxing weekend. I hope I can find another indulgence this week.

I love wines! Being in passion with food and cooking I consider wine as part of my personal interests. Last holiday season, the family had a great get together.I was the one who planned and prepared foods for all the guests. I included this Chardonnay kind of white wine because it is a good match for foods that I prepared like chicken salad, chicken pasta creme and fish terriyaki. My wine deals was so perfect indeed and everybody enjoyed the celebration. I will be ordering cases of this wine by next week through the online site for the graduation of my niece and birthday of my brother. There will be lots of parties coming up by March and it pays to order the wines ahead so that it will arrive before the scheduled days. I will have to inform My and Lyn also because they are interested to have white wines for their family reunions.

I am feeling hungry for lunch while doing some personal errands today. I take a hearty meals on my favorite restaurant that serves delicious and healthy orders. Aside from that, the combo menu is affordable too. I ordered rice, chicken liver asado, lomi noodle soup, mixed vegetables in coco milk, fresh fruit salad and a glass of iced tea. Yes of course, I need a new furniture on my newly opened restaurant. Additional dining tables on the other half of the restaurant so that my guests will not get crowded and will be comfortable in their dining activities. I personally choose this style, a standard finish log dining table. This rustic furniture is individually crafted in good quality and standards. The concept of having this kind of dining table depicts my choice of modern elegance and style. For sure my avid diners will enjoy their hearty lunch and dinner in the restaurant with the delicious food servings as well as beautiful ambiance. I was malling weeks ago to unwind after office work. I came across this special dumplings' stall and tried tasting an order of their steamed siomai. I choose the Japanese combo and it tasted good with some added spices and calamansi as the sauce. The price is affordable that makes me tempted to buy every time I visit the mall. This afternoon I eat six pieces and its delicious as always. Just making my tummy in condition for the evening class later.

One of the requested menu that I cooked was Beef Caldereta as everybody's favorite at home. I often cook stew foods but for this one I tried to be adventurous on the flavor. It has richer sauce with added dried tarragon leaves to enhanced the flavor. The caldereta taste is still perfect with the distinct aroma of the herb. Noodles was the star of my table days ago because my days were quite hectic due to work and other personal responsibilities. I bought this take out of Pancit Palabok in a specialty restaurant. Pancit palabok and pancit luglug are essentially the same dish, the difference being primarily in the noodles used in the recipe. Luglug uses a thicker noodle than the traditional bihon of a pancit palabok. Both pancit dishes use a round rice noodle (often specifically labeled for pancit luglug or palabok) smothered with a thick, golden shrimp sauce or other flavored sauce, and topped with:Shrimp, (the size and shell-on or shell-off depending on preference) crushed or ground pork rind, hard-boiled egg (sliced into disks or quartered lengthwise or chopped) tinapa (smoked fish) flakes and freshly minced green onion. Delicious enough that I already forgot to take dinner because I felt bloated after the eating.

My cousin invited me on their fiesta. It was an annual celebration of their place and all the locals usually prepared food and invited some guests to joined the thanksgiving. I had my sister with and we enjoyed the company together with my cousins, nephews, nieces and relatives. Delicious foods were served before us like suckling roasted pig, grilled fish, macaroni salad, chicken broth, stir fried shrimps desserts and many more. Its nice to be back again on food trip Friday after the rush and busy life during the past holiday season. I made this chicken macaroni salad last weekend. Quality macaroni pasta mixed with mayonnaise, fruit cocktail, condensed milk, raisins, threaded chicken meat and pineapple crushed. I made it creamy and cheesy to make it specially perfect for 2011. This serving only stayed for one (1) day in the refrigerator because it was everybody's favorite :) A "yummylicious" new year to all!

New Year Siomai

I had been planning to cook siomai on the new year and at last it was realized. A very tedious work that I did because it took hours of patience especially on the wrapping and steaming. My efforts did very well because these tiny dumplings were so delicious. The center sauce is a special spicy dipping that I bought in a specialty restaurant of dumplings. Here is the recipe.

Chicken Siomai

Ingredients:

1/2 kilo ground chicken

carrots, shredded

shrimps, peeled

white onions, chopped

celery, chopped

salt & pepper

olive oil

egg

flour

siomai wrappers

Procedure:

Heat olive oil in a pan. Saute onions until light brown then add the ground chicken, salt and pepper, carrots mix well then set aside. In a mixing bowl, put egg, flour celery and the ground chicken. Mix thoroughly until well blended. Get a siomai wrapper and put teaspoonful of the chicken mixture then top with shrimps. You can wrap it into triangles, squares or pouch like depending on your choice of wrapping. Be sure that it is sealed by using water in the ends . Continue until the mixture is consumed. Arranged all the siomai in a steamer and have it steamed for 20 minutes. Serve hot together with a spicy sauce, calamansi and soy sauce.

I received more than enough of pasta packs gifts this Christmas and one of my choice menu to cooked after the holidays was this Carbonara. I used angel hair spaghetti because I like the texture of the pasta. Mushrooms and pork ham slices were added on the white creamy sauce then topped with Parmesan cheese. Its always great to celebrate the season with pasta dishes like this one.

I was having a great time together with my siblings and relatives who just came for the holidays. As the host, I was the one who mainly did the food preparation. Weekend Pinakbet

I loved cooking vegetables last weekend so I decided to prepared this Pinakbet. Brown the sliced pork belly parts until golden brown then set aside. In the same pan saute onions and garlic. Add pork and squash. Stir then add water and let it boil until the squash and pork are done. Put some flavorings, salt, fish sauce an shrimp paste. Simmer again then add vegetables like okra, patola and eggplant. Mix all the ingredients and serve immediately. This just tasted so good and healthy.

I have written a post before about my newly opened catering restaurant and it is on its fifth month now on operation. It was a birth pain I should say after those grueling weeks of preparations. Now it is doing well this time and the sales are going up. Thanks for all the support of my staff and crew who are very supportive for the food business. One agent made an appointment with me and he talked and discussed about photocopiers which comprised their marketing line of products. I love cooking stew dishes and last weekend my menu was Oriental Beef Stew. Special beef cuts were boiled until very tender. Saute onions and garlic then add tendered beef cuts. Put the remaining broth and add cups of water. When boiling add salt, oriental seasoning, carrots and potatoes. Boil until the broth becomes thicker and by this time the carrots and potatoes are also cooked already. Add ground pepper, mix everything then garnished with chopped leeks. Serve hot with rice. Everybody's favorite - Bam-i. I cooked this menu the stir fry way. Two noodles combined with carrots, celery, pork and shrimps. I think in a month this is always present in my menu list. Aside from its sumptuous taste, it is easy to prepare and the ingredients are minimal. You can eat it with bread or as it is paired with soft drinks or iced tea. Ideal to cook in times when you have many visitors. What a bam-i day!

My entry for this week is Shrimps in Tomato and Garlic sauce. A very easy to prepare menu either for lunch or dinner. Saute chopped garlic in olive oil then add fresh medium sized shrimps. Add salt, pepper, seasonings and tomato sauce. Stir well and simmer for 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Serve hot immediately. This menu is perfect for cold rainy days since it is always raining for almost a week already. I prepared halaan soup (fresh clams) as the main ingredient. Clean throughly the clams.Set aside. Boil water in a casserole then add onions, tomatoes, lemon grass, ginger and fresh clams. Put salt and seasonings. Adjust according to taste that it should not be too salty. Any green leafy vegetable can be used here and for this menu I added fresh kangkong (water spinach) as my green toppings. Serve immediately. A deliciously healthy meal.

Papaya Slices

For the past months, there was a scarcity of papaya fruit because the production was largely affected by the climate change and the El Nino (prolonged summer season). I am thankful because I was able to buy some ripe papaya in the market fruit stand last Sunday. This variety is called "solo" where the flesh is thicker as compared to other native papaya fruit. It is sweet and a healthy after meal desert. One of my favorite fruit in year round season.

Chicken Tinola

Ingredients:

1/2 kilo native chicken

1 pc onion

garlic cloves

medium size, ginger

1 young papaya, peeled and sliced diagonally

sili leaves

5 cups water

3 tbsp. olive oil

salt & pepper

Cooking procedures:

In a casserole, heat olive oil then saute ginger, garlic and onions. Add chicken then simmer for five minutes. Add salt and water. Bring to a boil until chicken is tender. Add papaya and allow to cook. When ready to serve, put sili leaves. Serve hot with white rice.

I just celebrated my birthday last week and it was a special and meaningful day for me. Another gift of life has been given and I am always grateful for all the provisions of my existence. Since it was my day, I made this special creamy spaghetti. I always believed that good taste of food comes from quality of ingredients. I used here the thin kind of spaghetti (Italian kind). The sauce includes ground beef/pork, tomato &cheese sauce, chopped carrots, mushrooms, seasonings and spices.Top with melted cheese, the enjoyment of the :"creamylicious" taste were shared by my siblings and friends. Irresistible crabs! I cooked it simply as compared to my previous cookings with this delicious seafood. This time I have it steamed in spices and seasonings. It is much better this way to make it less in calories. The taste is great and all the steaming ingredients blended with the crab meat. I have not eaten pusit (squid) for quite sometime already. I bought a kilo of this delicious seafood last weekend and cooked it adobo style. The squids were throughly cleaned and sliced in half. In a pan sauté onions and garlic. Add squid, salt and seasonings. Mix together then add a cup of water. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add vinegar and boil for another few minutes until black sauce is reduced.Garnished with chopped leeks. Simply the best menu in cooking the squid. Served with hot rice.

It's food tripping again.A delicious crispy pata dish that I prepared this week. I bought a preboiled pork hind from a specialty meat shop then deep fried in very hot oil for 20 minutes. Placed in a serving platter together with spicy dipping of soy sauce, vinegar, chili and garlic. Slices of cucumbers are healthy side dish for pork meals. Everybody at home just enjoyed the sumptuous dinner with this yummy crispy pata.

Creamy Shrimps & Mushrooms on Linguine

Peeled shrimps with creamy mushroom and onion sauce that can be layered or mixed on linguine pasta. In a large saute pan, heat oil, butter and garlic over medium heat. Add shrimps and mushrooms. Set aside. Cook pasta according to directions on package. Drain.Reheat oil in pan, add onion and saute, stirring often, until onion is soft but still white. Add bullion cube and water; bring to a boil and simmer uncovered for approximately 10 minutes. Stir in cream and milk. Place pasta in a bowl, then mix the creamy sauce. Top with Parmesan cheese .Serve immediately. I am feeling hungry while making this post. :) Anyway, happy food tripping to all!

Wow its Friday again! I am always excited to post my menu for today - Lean Beef in Ampalaya (bitter gourd). Thin beef slices sautéed in garlic and onions then added with seasonings (salt, pepper,soy sauce, sesame oil). This is so easy to cook because the beef is tender and the bitter gourd just needs some quick steaming. I love the taste as the bitterness of ampalaya blended well with the juicy beef slices. Another serving during the lunch buffet in the hotel - vegetable chopsuey, grilled seafood, breaded pork chop, lettuce salad and rice. I was carefully tasting the menus as I found it different in taste and ingredients compared to common cooking. Lunch could be so delicious followed by this creamy mango float dessert. I bought this round size in a pastry shop before going home. I sliced it accordingly so that everybody can taste the layers of crackers, cream and ripe mango slices. Yummy!
